You’ve got something.
It’s hard to define, but it’s all yours.
It sparks your fire.
Feeds your creativity.
Shapes your experiences.
Fuels your future.
Alcohol doesn’t bring it out.
It can drown it out.
You’re already the life of your own party.
One that needs to last for years from now.
So celebrate that instead.
21 MATTERS.
Why 21 Matters
Alcohol companies are very good at what they do.
Their goal isn’t to make you feel confident…
It’s to turn early drinkers into lifelong customers.
If alcohol companies can get you drinking before 21,
there’s a much higher chance you’ll keep drinking for decades.
That’s not a conspiracy.
That’s a business model.
And teens are one of their biggest targets.
Alcohol & the Teen Brain
(This Part Matters)
Your brain is still developing into your mid-20s.
Between ages 12–21, it’s wiring the systems responsible for:
- decision-making
- impulse control
- learning and memory
Alcohol interferes with that wiring.
The earlier drinking starts, the higher the long-term risk.
Here’s the part most people don’t hear:
- About 1 in 5 adults struggles with alcohol addiction
- Most adults with addiction started using substances before 18
- Starting earlier dramatically increases the risk
If you wait until 21 to drink, your risk of developing alcohol addiction drops to around 7%.
That’s not a scare tactic. That’s how brain development works.
A Little Hope (Because It’s Not Too Late)
If you’re under 21 and have already started drinking,
it doesn’t mean you’ve messed everything up.
Your brain is adaptable.
The earlier you stop, the more it can recover.
Refocus on what actually makes you feel alive.
That stuff still works.
You and your brain are worth protecting.
Meet Your Brain
The videos below are absurd on purpose.
In these short clips, your brain is the main character.
Alcohol shows up loud, messy, and overconfident, making promises it can’t keep and creating problems your brain has to clean up later.
While alcohol might act funny, your brain has the real main character energy in your life.
It’s steady. It’s smart.
And it’s always looking out for future you.
This pledge isn’t about rules.
It’s about choice. It’s a personal promise.
The 21 Matters Pledge
I’m choosing to wait until 21 to drink alcohol.
Not because I’m told to but because I’ve got something worth protecting.
My energy. My creativity. My future.
Alcohol doesn’t unlock it.
I’m already enough without it.
21 matters.
