FAQs
Youth Vision’s goal is to help students “belong to something positive.” Youth Vision is our way of serving ALL Idaho teens.
Youth Vision is made up for four elements:
- Youth Vision Campaigns
- Youth Vision Network
- Social Media
- Youth Vision Ambassadors
While Youth Vision is not necessarily a “membership program” for students, all students in Idaho are invited to sign up for Youth Vision Campaigns at www.idfy.org/youthvision. iDFY Chapter Members, non-members, and anyone who joins a Youth Vision Network organization has equal access to participate in Youth Vision Campaigns year-round and will receive a campaign package in the mail from the Idaho Drug Free Youth.
Students who want to become official members of Idaho Drug Free Youth are invited to join or start an official iDFY Chapter. If an IDFY Chapter does not yet exist in a community, we encourage students to find another preferred student group from our Youth Vision Network.
Any Idaho teen can participate in campaigns. These are fun ways to get involved in Idaho Drug Free Youth and promote a drug-free lifestyle. Sign up for as many as you’d like. We will send you a Youth Vision T-Shirt and all the materials to get your started.
We know that not every student will join a Chapter of iDFY, and an iDFY does not exist in every town, but we know there are many groups that are providing truly exceptional youth programming. We want to match Idaho’s youth to the good things already happening.
Idaho Drug Free Youth has been serving teens since 1991. In this time, we’ve reached thousands of youth through our iDFY Chapter program, camps, and events. While we continue to provide these programs with the same gusto as always, we acknowledge the work of coalitions and other youth-serving organizations who share a similiar goal of helping youth make drug- and alcohol-free choices.
Together, our voices are louder and our impact on Idaho is greater.
Our hope is that no matter where a student lives, we can point them to a group of people to find support, belonging, and empowerment. We want to point them to join IDFY Chapters as well as resources that already exist in communities. If neither of those exist yet, students can sign up for Youth Vision Campaigns and connect with us on Social Media.
The Youth Vision Network is made up of student organizations who in Idaho who encourage their members to make drug-free choices. We are in the process of building our list of preferred student groups. Once that list is established, we will publish it to our Youth Vision page so teens can find a group.
If you can answer “YES” to the questions below, the answer is likely a “YES!” If you have any questions about if you should be recognized as a preferred student group in the network. Or, if IDFY Chapter Membership is right for you, please reach out to us at hello@idfy.org. While there is no cost to become a Youth Vision Network member, there is a short application you must fill out that includes these requirements:
- You are a not-for-profit group, organization, or club who works primarily with Idaho teens within grades 6 through 12.
- Part of your mission, vision, or goal is to encourage teens to make substance-free choices.
- You engage students in one of the following program categories: Fun, Empowerment, Knowledge, or Support.
And lastly, The Youth Vision Network is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment. As such, any group associated with our network unequivocally rejects and does not engage in any activities that promote hate, discrimination, political partisanship, or cruelty. We are committed to upholding principles of respect, equality, and compassion, and generally what’s best for the health of young people in all our endeavors.
For us, the benefit of creating a network is being able to connect and collaborate with more groups who are doing similar work so we can connect teens to something positive. We want to share our prevention opportunities, events, campaigns, and programs with more teens who may not ever have the chance to join an iDFY Chapter. We highly encourage coalitions, youth centers, during- and after-school programs, mental health support groups, leadership groups, and volunteer or service clubs to join.
For you, below are the benefits we already know exist for you. We anticipate that that benefits of this collaboration will be unexpected and two-fold!
- We will point students to you when they are looking to join a group.
- Your members will get 10% off any Idaho Drug Free Youth event or program
- For every 5 members who attend an IDFY event, 1 of your Adult Chaperones can attend at no cost
- Your students are invited to participate in Youth Vision Campaigns and will be provided with SWAG and resources when they sign up.
